Kristine Opolais returns to the Bayerische Staatsoper in one of her signature roles, the ill-fated Cio-Cio-San in Puccini’s heartrending classic Madama Butterfly. Performances take place February 21, 23 & 26, as well as July 13, and feature Joseph Calleja as B.F. Pinkerton, Markus Eiche as Sharpless, and Okka von der Damerau as Suzuki, with Stefano Ranzani leading from the pit.

She also sings Cio-Cio-San at London’s Royal Opera House on March 20, 23, 28 & 31, and April 4 & 9. Kristine made her debut at Covent Garden in the role (2011) to spectacular notices, citing her “intensity and intelligence” and “remarkable” portrayal. Ms. Opolais is joined by an acclaimed cast for her return to this production, including Brian Jagde as Pinkerton, Gabriele Vivani as Sharpless, and Enkelejda Shkosa as Suzuki. San Francisco Opera Music Director Nicola Luisotti leads the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and ROH Chorus.

Ticket availability is extremely limited for both of these not-to-be-missed productions.
