Kristine Opolais will sing the title role in a new production of Puccini’s dramatic and gripping work Manon Lescaut, next season at The Metropolitan Opera. These performances will be a true highlight of The Met’s upcoming 15-16 presentations, following Ms. Opolais’ “sumptuous” and “vocally assured” performances of the role in London and Munich.

She is reunited with tenor and colleague Jonas Kaufmann as Des Grieux in a new Sir Richard Eyre production, with Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi leading the renowned Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chorus. The staging sets this timeless story in occupied France, draped in sumptuous film noir scenes and costumes. Performances take place February 12, 15, 18, 24 & 27, and March 1, 5, 8 & 11. There will also be a worldwide Live in HD theater broadcast, taking place on March 5.
