Following her critically lauded portrayal of the title role in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut, Kristine Opolais takes on another Puccini heroine on the Met stage this season. She reprises her “voluptuous and expressive” portrayal (The New York Times) of Cio-Cio-San in the Minghella production of Madama Butterfly, March 17, 21, 25 & 29 and April 2, 6, 9 & 12. The April 2 performance will also receive a Live in HD broadcast, which can be viewed at cinemas across the globe.
Ms. Opolais is joined by Roberto Alagna and Roberto De Biasio alternating as Pinkerton, Dwayne Croft as Sharpless, and Maria Zifchak as Suzuki, with Karel Mark Chichon leading the Met Opera Orchestra.
