This month, Kristine Opolais stars as the explosive title role of Puccini’s Tosca for two open-air performances at the Schlossbergbühne Kasematten in Graz, Austria. Performances will take place on August 22, 24, & 25, with Marcus Merkel conducting the Grazer Philharmoniker, Grazer Opernchor, and the Singschul of the Graz Opera in this semi-staged production.
Ms. Opolais reunites on stage with her highly esteemed colleagues: Jonas Kaufmann as Cavaradossi, and Ludovic Tézier as Scarpia. Kristine’s last portrayal as Tosca at the Royal Opera House received critical acclaim with Broadway World praising: “Kristine Opolais moves with the grace of a ballerina, her Tosca every inch the superstar of the Roman stage. She is hilariously funny in her jealous teasing of her lover, Cavaradossi, and later than a match for Scarpia, who has played submissive games with women for so long that he cannot recognise one who will fight back.”
Don’t miss the premiere of Tosca broadcast live via ORF III on August 22 at 8:15pm CET. For more information about the broadcast, please visit ORF III.
