Puccini’s Manon Lescaut returns to the Royal Opera House after a 30 year absence, featuring Kristine Opolais in the title role.
With superstar tenor Jonas Kaufmann as the object of her affection, Chevalier des Grieux, Maurizio Muraro as his rival, Geronte de Ravoir, and Christopher Maltman sings the role of Lescaut, Manon’s doting brother. Maestro Antonio Pappano leads the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House in this early masterpiece of Puccini’s career.
This new production, directed by Jonathan Kent, breathes fresh life into this timeless and challenging story, where the themes of “Lust, Money, Power, and Love” give way to beautiful music, and heartbreaking tragedy. See the trailer for this powerful production here.
