This season, Kristine Opolais sings the title role in a new production of Puccini’s romantic and thrilling Manon Lescaut at The Metropolitan Opera, featuring sets and costumes that will envelop the cast in a decadent film noir setting. She previously performed the role to critical acclaim in London and Munich, with critics heralding her “sumptuous” and “vocally assured” performances.

Ms. Opolais is joined by Roberto Alagna as Des Grieux for this Sir Richard Eyre production, with Fabio Luisi leading from the pit. Performances take place February 12, 15, 18, 24 & 27 and March 1, 5, 8 & 11, with a worldwide Live in HD cinema broadcast on March 5. Kristine is also featured in another HD broadcast for The Met this season, on April 2, reprising her unforgettable portrayal of Cio-Cio-San in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly.
