Kristine Opolais returns to the Bayerische Staatsoper this summer, to reprise her portrayal of Margherita in Boito’s Mefistofele. Her performances in the role last season were heralded by critics across the globe:
“Kristine Opolais, in her best singing and interpreting of the evening, was most moving . . . “L’altra notte,”as well as the rest of her Prison scene, was outstanding and her acting was, as usual, superb.”

She is joined by her original cast mates for these performances, taking place July 21 & 24, including René Pape in the title role and Joseph Calleja as Faust, with Omer Meir Wellber leading from the pit. A preview trailer for this Roland Schwab-staged production can be enjoyed via YouTube.
