Kristine Opolais makes her greatly anticipated return to Teatro Comunale di Bologna as the title role of Cilea’s Adriana Lecouvreur on November 14, 16, 18 & 20. Ms. Opolais made her highly anticipated debut as the commanding title role in March 2021, with La Stampa hailing:
“It is a fact that, apart from her beauty and stage charisma, both of which are remarkable, Opolais also sings rather well, she declaims beautifully (it is difficult for a foreigner to resolve Phaedra’s monologue in an Italian that is not only irreproachable, but also very well accented) and above all she breaks out of the by now stale cliché of the great tragedian attached “full time” to the curtains. It is an Adriana that is not redundant but not defeatist, and for this very reason she is very intense, and in the end very interesting.”
She will share the stage with Luciano Ganci as Maurizio, Veronica Simeoni as the Princess de Bouillon, Romano Dal Zovo as the Prince de Bouillon, Gianluca Sorrentino as The Abbé de Chazeuil, Sergio Vitale as Michonnet, Elena Borin as Mlle Jouvenot, Aloisa Aisemberg as Mlle Dangeville, Luca Gallo as Quinault, and Stefano Consolini as Poisson. Asher Fisch conducts.
