On February 3, Kristine Opolais makes her much-anticipated return to the Latvian National Opera for a special gala concert in tribute to Andrejs Žagars, former Intendant of Latvian National Opera and close colleague to Ms.Opolais. Marking her return to the house after a gap of ten years, she will perform arias by Cilea, Puccini, Verdi, Bizet & Dvořák, accompanied by the Latvian National Opera Orchestra, under the baton of Mārtiņš Ozoliņš.

“I am very happy to share that on 3 February 2023 I will make my return to the Latvian National Opera stage for a special gala concert. I cannot wait to sing for my beloved audience in this special theater, where I started my artistic journey. I will sing arias from some of my favorite roles, both familiar and new (!) with music by Cilea, Puccini, Verdi, Bizet & Dvořák.

With all of my heart, I dedicate this special evening to the loving memory of Andrejs Žagars, the former Intendant of Latvian National Opera, who was a dear friend and mentor to me for many years. We had a unique bond, I trusted him completely in how he guided my artistry and path as a singer. I am so grateful for all of the beautiful opportunities he offered me. I will miss him always, and cannot think of a better way to honor his memory than to perform on the LNO stage again.

I hope to have many of you in the audience for this celebration of life and art.”
