On July 19, Kristine Opolais joins the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood, singing the title role in Puccini’s Tosca, presented in concert. Opolais has been widely praised for her portrayal of the fiery heroine, with Culture Whispers saying, “She rips through the music balanced on a dagger’s blade between singing and exclamation, her cries of despair coming from the heart.”
Under the baton of Andris Nelsons, Opolais joins an all-star cast, including Seok Jong Baek as Cavaradossi, Bryn Terfel as Scarpia, Morris Robinson as Angelotti, Patrick Carfizzi as the Sacristan, Nicholas Newton as Sciarrone/The Jailer, Neal Ferreira as Spoletta, Ari Davis as the Shepherd Boy, and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus.
To hear Opolais in this signature role, a live performance from the Theater an der Wien is available on DVD and Blue Ray from Unitel Edition.
